With various ranking-of-nominations threads floating around in early November, I didn't see the point in running one. So for a few weeks I kicked around the idea of simply figuring out my top 100 songs and doing a countdown instead. However, as I started to compile this list and thought about it further, I realized there were a few problems.

1. I've been really busy trying to prepare my father's house for sale. This prolonged my efforts and sapped all the momentum I had for doing this myself.
2. I was sure I was going to forget something. I don't want to snub one of my favorite songs!
3. Users are generally less-invested in something they haven't actually taken part in. Short of keeping score for predictions, I didn't see a way to do that.
4. With only a couple months to March, I had a funny feeling this might come off as a thinly veiled attempt to tell people what I wanted to nominate for VGMC.

And the more I thought about it, the more I realized there's a surprisingly silly way to handle this.
.

You're going to tell me what my favorite songs are.
.

So this is essentially a ranking thread now, with a few caveats.

* There are no explicit limits on what or how much you can nominate. Just don't go insane.
* Your goal is to pick songs you know I will like. Be as freaking obvious as you need to be.
* If you pick songs you openly know I won't like, I will put you on ignore, effectively banning you from VGMC. So get your BK and EB crap outta here. IB4 the first reply contains Amusement Park.
* I haven't yet decided if I will include anything the board fails to nominate, but right now I'm leaning toward it might be more fun to put it all in your hands. If no tracks from games I'm known for make an appearance, this will just be a very non-authoritative list.

And a few suggestions:

* If I haven't heard a song before, I'm unlikely to favor it here. This is *probably* not the time to dig up your obscure stuff and latest finds.
* I will limit the number of inclusions from particular sources to an extent, so don't bother tossing up entire soundtracks, please.
* I have a pronounced tendency to appreciate songs that have a strong melody or other dominant voice.
* I have a habit of favoring songs that are energetic and ahead of the beat. In other words, boss music.

* I'm among the older B8ers. I played games on the Commodore 64 because my parents wouldn't buy me an NES. Older styles are not inherently frowned upon. By contrast, I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64 and mostly play games via Steam these days.
* Games I'm especially known to the board for include Secret of Mana, Dungeon Fighter Online, Dynasty Warriors, Trine, Cloudbuilt, Child of Light, Divinity: Original Sin, and Granado Espada. If you don't know my tastes, look at the other nominations. (Or ask, I guess.) I'd give you explicit songs that I like, but I don't want to lead the witnesses too strongly.
.

So, uh, I think that's it? I probably forgot something important, so stay tuned for updates and don't be a jerk, but otherwise I look forward to seeing what you folks think I (will) like. Hopefully I will follow through with the rankings. As noted above, I am quite busy right now.
