This is unlikely, if the water contacts both terminals it would be a short. In other words, your breaker will trip or your fuse will blow. A fire is unlikely. XboxLegendary posted...
I bought a can of Flex Seal to spray the roof

This may or may not help. Water is a bitch. It will find a way and it will follow any way it can. Shingles overlap to keep water on top. It's possible to have a leak higher up the roof than where you think it's coming in. As @Ray_Dorset said, pictures of attic under your roof would be helpful. But don't worry yet about a fire. If your house is that old I have worse news for you I'm afraid as far as wiring and an electrician call goes
