Bullet point three is irrelevant. If they could find good work they wouldn't need government assistance

It is relevant. How old were you during the Great Recession? People with great jobs lost them and had to wait for the work to come back.

Many of them would've just stagnated if they took some shitty full-time or even part-time job to meet higher hour requirements for food stamps.
