As for Violet Evergarden, there were three or so episodes that I liked (they were 100% emotionally manipulative heartstring pulling, but I'm a sucker for that so if you are too it might be worth checking out). Those high points were higher than anything in Dragon Pilot, which was more consistently 'good'. The rest of VE was terrible low points, though. The character of Violet is boring and makes no sense within the context of the setting, which really ruins everything to do with her story if you spend more than a minute thinking about it.
