In 2007, Silicon Knights sued Epic Games over issues with the Unreal Engine 3, which the company (SK) had previously announced it'd be using on future projects. Epic Games soon countersued, alleging Silicon Knights had infringed on its intellectual properties and "misappropriated trade secrets". When the case closed in 2012, the evidence was overwhelmingly in favor of Epic Games, who were awarded over $9,000,000 in restitution. The plaintiff, guilty of plagiarizing the Unreal code, was court-ordered to destroy all unsold product built on it, including several games in production. This had a negative impact on X-Men: Destiny, which was pulled from several console marketplaces, along with Too Human.
