For most people, "science" is the religion of the modern age and "scientists" (ie, anyone with some pretense of academic authority) are basically the new priests. We just traded in frocks for white coats and the idiots fall lock-step in line while crowing about how enlightened they are for not falling for any of that "religion" nonsense.
