For an American Judge, yes.

But given Mexicos economy, those judges are ridiculously overpaid.


Maybe, but there is something really worrisome about a president being able to reduce a judge's salary. Especially when it comes to supreme court judges.

I mean, I get his point. But think about it. If a president can change a judge's salary, then the judiciary is not independent and judges might be tempted to make politically-based decisions on the bench in order to placate the president and protect their own wages


Ill try to find a source, but the method he plans to execute this is by deducting his own salary. By doing this, no other government can be paid more than the presidents wages, per their own constitution.
