But given Mexicos economy, those judges are ridiculously overpaid. Maybe, but there is something really worrisome about a president being able to reduce a judge's salary. Especially when it comes to supreme court judges. I mean, I get his point. But think about it. If a president can change a judge's salary, then the judiciary is not independent and judges might be tempted to make politically-based decisions on the bench in order to placate the president and protect their own wages Ill try to find a source, but the method he plans to execute this is by deducting his own salary.
