For an American Judge, yes.

But given Mexicos economy, those judges are ridiculously overpaid.

I feel like they are being overpaid to try to minimize corruption, like if they're paid a lot they'll be less tempted to accept bribes and pardon cartel members and stuff.

Maybe, but there is something really worrisome about a president being able to reduce a judge's salary. Especially when it comes to supreme court judges.

I mean, I get his point. But think about it. If a president can change a judge's salary, then the judiciary is not independent and judges might be tempted to make politically-based decisions on the bench in order to placate the president and protect their own wages

Ill try to find a source, but the method he plans to execute this is by deducting his own salary. By doing this, no other government can be paid more than the presidents wages, per their own constitution.

From what I hear, this new Mexican president does sounds like he's actually trying to change Mexico, and move forward. Kind of like a Mexican Donald Trump.

The only problem is that he only has 6 years to do it, and I dont know how much he can get done in 6 years. Also, whatever he gets done in 6 years will be undo by the next president after that.
