So I had posted this in the analysis crew topic, but I really think the best idea to "deal with" Link next contest, even moreso than a fictional character

64 match bracket, no Link. The non-Link field has shown to at least be competitive this year, so no real need to segregate them.
Link in parallel, is put into a gauntlet where he must defeat all comers

So each day, you run two matches. The first is your regularly scheduled bracket match. The second is Link vs ???. ??? is some fodder the first day-- I liked the idea of CATS but it can be whoever. Next day, your regularly scheduled bracket match and side to side with it is Link vs the loser of the previous day.

If Link ever loses, he's replaced by the winner who continues to run the gauntlet.

Gauntlet Winner vs Bracket Winner is your final.

As for scoring I'd do the bracket the same, with the Gauntlet vs Bracket Winner being worth 8 points in standard bonus match form. Make the Link gauntlet basically in the form of picking when Link is defeated rather than picking each match and score it up in some conservative way that makes the Bracket Winner the meat of the prediction. Maybe something like 4 points for picking Link to sweep, or 8 points picking the field, with up to +8 more depending on how close you are to the match number he's eliminated at.

Anyone else digging this idea? I think it'd be really fun. You get to remove Link from the main bracket festivities to make it harder to predict, but we still get a bajillion Link matches, which is what GameFAQs really wants. (Also PERFECT X-STATS.)
