I mean he has a great game, but I doubt would even make a top 50 most iconic characters list. Hell I bet phoenix wright even beats him in that regard.
While Ace Attorney is among my favourite series, let's not pretend it's that relevant. Crono's game is the product of Square's absolute dream team at the time, and "the time" was the RPG golden age, Square's strongest time that they'll never come close to again. Plus, his design is super cool, and drawn by DragonBall legend Toriyama. If he'd had more games, he'd easily be around Link and Mario's level even on this site. But that's okay. Popularity is not that important. Just being able to beat a character like Mega Man is cool enough, not to mention beating Mario 2-3 times back in the day (even if only 1 was counted).
I don't know, wright has a lot of games and at the very least was a meme. A rerelease on steam in 2018 doesnt really count for much since such a huge number get them at this point.
I think it would be a lot closer than people think if you asked the typical gamer. I think a particular group of people from this site especially love chrono trigger. But honestly outside of board 8 I dont think I've ever even seen it mentioned anywhere... ---
