Except that's literally where this shit is going. You're asserting that parents aren't supposed to take care of their own kids.

Ignoring the fact that many families make just enough to *not* qualify for food benefits, often the benefits they do get are still not enough even with careful spending. My mom knew how to stretch both food and money, and there were still times that I had very little to eat. I was extremely grateful for both school lunches and the program that gave lunches to kids at the park in the summer.


Which comes back to the fact that parents are squandering welfare benefits so the government is left triple-dipping when, in all honesty, it should be scaling back.
