I used to fall into the side of Matrix being slightly overrated, but I think that's more immediately after its release. Nowadays it isn't really seen as some deeply profound thing and I feel ironically it has more people chastising it for not being that and it has mostly balanced out to being treated fairly.

Like as a hard hitting action action movie with a just good enough plot to keep you invested and some pretty cool world building it's awesome. As long as you're not trying to claim it's a lot more than that, then I don't feel you're really overrating it. NeoxTrinity does suck but whatever-- it doesn't take as much screentime as it could take.

Nowadays I think more than Matrix being overrated I think I'm more in the camp of Reloaded being underrated, cause I mean, taking away the novelty of the world Matrix 1 built the plot isn't really a lot less coherent or anything, and I like the fight scenes and philosophy promos better there. Glad a lot of the write-ups gave it a shout out.
