Even if it did "flop" financially, the game is fucking great. Really enjoy the DLC they've put out for it too. There's definitely issues with it and there are features from Planet Coaster that should prolly be added to JWE, but I've certainly gotten my money's worth at 200 hours clocked lol. Frontier is one of the few truly good devs out there these days. They really care about the games they make and it shows.
