There is physical damage from that sticker they place on the case. Open-new would be bullshit enough without that sticker.

Second, you can still bitch about an annoyance even if you willingly participate in it. I complain about CT non-stop yet I choose to live here instead of moving to a non-frigid-hellhole of a state whose economy isn't on life support and which didn't just elect a governor who, in all likelihood, may be a step down from Dan fucking Malloy. Likewise, the McDonald's closest to my home is terrible but when I'm driving home after everything else is closed, I'm kinda stuck doing that or waiting to eat until I get home. The fact that we participate in awful things doesn't give a free pass for being awful, even if we contribute to the problem. And, honestly, unless enough taxpayers move out of CT and the state collapses under the weight of its immense fiscal irresponsibility, individuals won't make much of a difference.

While it's rare for me to buy new-open (and, in fact, that's often been a deal-breaker), there have been a few times when I've done it for convenience and it still annoys me that it's a practice.
