That was not offered out of apology but because it means they legally can't sue after accepting a replacement.

Okay, I'll clarify a bit, the class action stuff that happens. Saw mentioned elsewhere that accepting compensation would prevent that.

The canvas bag offer isn't great either. They aren't offering bags to all users, only ones that contact them in time with all they require. Also sounds like these bags will probably be a rush job compared to what they should have been, so the quality possibly won't match the advertised bags.
