Not upset at all just stating something that is kinda obvious. The fact that teams don't offer sheet really good players that teams like the leafs refuse to sign until their entry level deal is up is just mind blowingly dumb. Like Matthews is a top 5 player in the league now, if you are a middling to bad team why shouldn't you throw 15 mil at him a year, he is well worth 4 1st round picks. The fact that we don't seem teams even attempt it is just laughable.

I think there's a variety of reasons why it doesn't happen. The one that I hear most often is that it's kind of a respect thing, where if GMs start offer sheeting players, they put themselves in a position to be cut-off as trade partners from other teams.

Then, five years later, that GM is fired and looking for a new job only to realize they've burned all their bridges by being the asshole who offer sheeted everyone's players and put a bunch of teams in a bad position.
