My apartment is $645 light bill separate. I stay in the poor side but close to the rich side I live 8mins away from galleria. The area I stay at isn't that bad mostly Hispanics though. Chinatown is located to the west of Houston on beltway 8 and Bellaire it's a nice are you can find decent homes for $180k-$250k on that area. I'm too lazy to draw out a map for you but it's a nice area. You get several main roads running on that area. Weather is crazy we get cold, rain, heat randomly at times.

I can rent a 1br apartment in or near Chinatown in good safe areas for less than $1,000/month and buy decent houses in decent places for $250k or less? If you or anyone else can tell me all the good and bad areas that'd be great. I remember there was a mass flooding in Houston not too long ago. How often does that happen? Are there a lot of natural disasters in Houston?

that's the deep south in general though lol.

The hot weather is really that bad? I'm used to mid 50s to low to mid 60s in the winter and low 70s to low/mid 80s temperatures in the summer. 85 degree Fahrenheit with not much physical activity would be my max comfort limit and anything over that would make me uncomfortable.

Traffic. Makes Dallas look smooth as hell by comparison.

I kinda expected a lot of traffic in a big city. Hopefully it's not the gridlocked kind of traffic in the city streets or taking 25 minutes to go 2 miles on the freeway.
