Fun fact, courtesy of Wikipedia: It coincidentally made its debut during the same theatre season (19992000) as a Broadway production with the same name and source material. This song is...intense. I feel intimidated just from listening to it, which I suppose is in line with the effect they're going for. I like the jazz-influenced sound of the song, it's playful and rich. But it's just a bit too intense for me. I'm sure this song impresses on stage though. 46. Interesting way to start the musical but just isn't very pleasing to the ears. Maybe it's meant to be rough and rap-py but yeah though stylistically fitting, just doesn't make for a very good song to listen to. There are better Hamilton songs to pick from.
