I think how people feel rallies correlates with how people feel about the current Nintendo domination.

I've noticed that Nintendo fans, who are more tolerant of Nintendo always doing well, are more against rallies. Meanwhile, non-Nintendo fans, including Square fans who are upset at Square's recent decline, are more tolerant to rallies.

Just a broad generalization that I've noticed and of course certainly doesn't apply to all.

This seems an odd conclusion, since rallies almost always screw Square characters, outside Frog, Vivi and now Tifa.

Whereas they seem to benefit Nintendo characters and Pokmonz more often than not. Because those things are easy to rally for. Theres plenty of Nintendo fans on the internet, while this place is probably the biggest community of Square fans around.

Draven and Undertale do take away what likely would have been Nintendo wins (though maybe Chrono Trigger couldve won with no rallies at all), but generally rallies are pro-Nintendo and anti-Square.

Sure Nintendo might have an easier time rallying than Square, but they also have a lot more to lose. Nintendo's already dominating the bracket anyways without rallies, so the upside for Nintendo rallying is rather limited. Link's 99% winning this thing without rallies, so why would Zelda fans want any rallies at all? With rallies, you get results like Draven > Link.

Meanwhile, for people who dislike how dominant Nintendo has been, they might as well roll the dice with rallying, since their favorite characters are going to lose anyways.

Again, this is just a observation I had based on rather limited evidence and I certainly don't think this applies to everyone.

Do you mean just this contest, or historically?

Historically Nintendo fans have had a lot less fear of rallies than Square fans. Rallies trigger a fear response in Square fans, as they rarely go their way.

Nintendo is also capable of massive rallies, like for Melee or Pokmon. Square can only do modest rallies, like a Frog or Tifa. The biggest was Vivi, but thats an outlier.

I just cant agree that Nintendo fans are more anti rally than Square fans.

Also you seem to imply Square fans want Link and OoT beaten, which is not true. Pretty sure the majority of Square fans would greatly prefer Link and OoT to win than the likes of Draven and Undertale. Square fans arent spiteful of Nintendo - they are Nintendo fans too.
