Well, now that Im healthy again, its time to acquire money and prestige the old-fashioned Norse way! Raiding! I raided my neighbor Sogn first, and then Nidaros. I saved Nidaros for later because he was dealing with a peasant revolt which was 1700 men strong. I didnt want those peasants killing my raiders. However, on my way to Nidaros, my Steward praised my name sufficiently to generate 300 men. So now I HAVE to go to war I figured I might as well do what I can. For now, all I can do is extort tribute, but its better than nothing.

My husband gave me a puppy! I accepted graciously and named him Faithful, because this husband, despite his terrible stats, has at least been faithful.

I was able to make Sogn a tributary state. However, Gudrandsdalen was also at war with Sjaelland, a large country in Denmark making its way north. Sjaelland took that province before I could finish them off.

My Seer, who I married to a (female) commander, Linda, the only commander I have whos worth a damn, just had an Imbecile child. :(

Oh yeah, I forgot. Now that I have an heir, I can change my ambition. >_> I chose Become Queen of Norway so I can carry on waging actual relevant wars.

Nidaros was and its peasants beat the crap out of each other. The revolt was put down, but in the meantime, Naumdal conquered it. So Naumdauls forces are still weak from the recent war, making this a perfect time for me to swoop in.

I also remembered that I was going to buy some commanders once I got some prestige. I did so, and relieved poor Linda who just gave birth to an Imbecile.

This area of the world has a lot of mountains for defensive bonuses. Also some of the fjords look like rivers so I constantly have to click on counties to see which will give me a river-crossing penalty. Although I probably would have won on number alone, I decided to let Naumdal go around the mountains and start sieging my capital of Sunnmre. If I attacked him while he was in Naumdal, I could have gotten a river crossing penalty AND he would have gotten mountain defense.

While in battle, I caught the heir to Naumdal! An easy 26 gold ransom, which this early on is a fucking lot. Thanks, game!

While on the march, I got an event to choose between gluttonous and temperate. Of course I went with temperate. Although the flavor text was the usual event you can get at any time, I like to think it was a military march. Like, were marching through the woods and the hunters (myself included) brought back a huge reindeer or elk, and since there was enough to go around, you were asked if you wanted a bigger portion or not.

In fact, almost as if to reinforce my little headcanon, a day or so later I got the event about marching through the mountains and one of my officers says Once Im back in Sunnmore, Im giving up this soldiering life and Maybe I will be a baker! When he asks me what I want to do, I can select a new combat focus! Yay! I can pick Logistics and organization, direct attack, or never surrendering. Organizer is an amazing selection and I will just about always pick it unless Im role playing a specific type of character.

Oh jeez. So I actually won the war. I had 100% warscore. But I was a day late in hitting the war button. I got into a fight and I went crazy for the thirst of blood. Must kill MORE! I became a Berserker! Yikes! Although, if I ever decide to fight Sigurdr Ring, this will be excellent as he is also a Berserker.

I declared the next war on Nordland, but while a smaller battalion of troops were marching on the way, more peasants rose up in Nidaros! I crushed them, but took some troop loss. Afterward I hanged the peasant leader.

Haha, I got an event about little Gunnar! Mama notes that hes not the cutest of children, but he has a curious and inquisitive mind. He got 2 Learning!
