This is entirely possible, though Mystara / Hollow World might be more familiar to you as the "Known World" of basic (i.e. red box) D&D from back in the day. (I also recall getting a fair amount of my basic D&D stuff from Kay-Bee, so that seems likely.) It's also commonly known as the "Gazetteer" setting, because the Gazetteers that came out in the 80s that described the various lands were kind of famous in and of themselves (and you see quite a few ads for them in comic books from that era). Later it was the setting of the Rules Cyclopedia. Though it hasn't really been supported since 3e supplanted Basic D&D and AD&D (and 3e used Greyhawk as the default setting).
