Americans are too obsesed with guns...there are other countries with high gun ownership like Switzerland but no soothings

Literally no one in the world has a gun ownership on the same order of magnitude as the US does. America has ~113 guns per 100 residents (next runner up is Serbia, with 75.6); Switzerland has less than half of that, with ~46 guns per resident.

More to the point, every other first world country that permits civilian gun ownership has significantly tighter laws around possession, regulation, licensing, and storage. The idea of civilians being allowed to concealed-carry (or even open-carry outside of a range or hunting ground) is generally seen as the height of stupidity in most of the world.

Get ready for some truth bombs:

The problem is the fact that America is such a melting pot of ethnicity.

This is not a truth bomb so much as it is barely concealed racism.

Other countries with large immigrant/ethnically mixed populations - like Canada, which has multiculturalism written directly into its laws and which is now a majority-minority nation (over half of Canadians are now neither British nor French descendants) - do not have this issue. You can continue comparing Americans to monkeys all you like and pretend like it's something inherent to the human race, but the simple truth is that no other country has such an enormous problem with gun violence. It is a uniquely American conundrum. The rest of us have managed to transcend our simian roots and have figured out how to get along with one another. The USA is that kid at the back of the class loudly whining that the assignment is too hard, while utterly clueless to the fact that everyone else has already finished and turned their papers in.

Want a truth bomb? Maybe the reason you guys have so many shootings has something to do with all the fucking guns floating around and the fact that there's almost zero laws controlling them. I don't want to sound speculative, but I kinda think there's something to that argument.

I would like to know why the U.S. specifically has so many people who are depressed, angry, suicidal, and want to kill a bunch of people before killing themselves.

For what it's worth, economic inequality and depression tend to have a strong positive correlation, and the US has one of the biggest issues with income inequality of all first world nations. Make of that what you will.
