The winner of the 1.54 record billion lottery win in Mega Millions is from a RURAL town of only 18,000 people in South Carolina as locals swarmed the local convenience store owned by CJ Patel who was given 50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket as he plans to share it with his employees.

Patel said he had no idea who bought the winning ticket on Tuesdays draw but said a steady stream of people came by the store as he hopes more people will keep coming in.

He's owned the KC Martin in Simponsville for more than 3 years and up until now, the biggest winner had been a 250,000 ticket about a year ago.

The Lottery Corporation knows when and where the ticket is bought but won't know who bought it until the winner comes forward..and we may NEVER know who won the ticket because of privacy laws in the state that allows the winner to be ANONYMOUS..

Cooper says they will owe the state 80 million in taxes if the full prize is paid out in annual installments, about 1% of their annual budget

The store is a lonely rural junction outside of Greenville in the northwest part of the state and it was mobbed by the media and locals who have now struck the banner "Luck Struck Here"

Patel said he can't offer clues as to who may have bought it but given the population is very small, the winner can't be that anonymous when locals pretty much KNOW EVERYONE and will notice changes in their habits once they claim the massive prize.

They have 5 MONTHS to claim the prize which will equal to 877.7 million in lump sum

Had no one won this jackpot, the prize would have risen to 2 BILLION.

Do you think winners should be allowed to be anonymous?
