If you're looking for subjects to talk about with classmates, you should try a *current* tv show rather than an old one. Also don't buy tv show collections before watching a few episodes of the show (unless it's only a few bucks or something).

Which I guess brings us to wasting money vs wasting time. If the show really doesn't do it for you, just cut your losses and stop watching. If you don't like something, you're not getting much value by watching it all the way through. Instead you're arguably compounding the wasted money by adding wasted time.

I picked up Fawlty Towers a while ago after seeing some clips that made it seem really funny (and it's had tremendous acclaim). However, by the end of the first episode, I realized that I probably wouldn't enjoy the show so I stopped watching. Luckily I only paid like $3 or $4 for it so I'm not out much.
