Not really, it is basically how Matt Murdock get introduced to Luke, which Claire says she is going to do at the end of LC. That is basically how Act 1 of the Defenders is setup.

Also how and why Luke and Clare are an item, which plays into the love triangle with Jessica Jones (which thinking about it more ties a little bit into the Jessica Jones story, but not really). Plus don't even get me started on why Misty and Luke would be on good terms.

The only relevant part for Luke is he gets out of prison, which was something that *should* have been covered in LC2 -- but that time he was only going in for a few months anyway.

You mean Misty loosing her arm and becoming friends with Colleen isn't relevant to the plot of LC even though the fallout from it is basically the entirety of Misty's story-line in season 2?

The Defenders frequently references K'un-Lun (seen in IF1), uses characters introduced in IF1, has Danny set up as being centrally important (the same is true of DD), and is about the Hand. The Hand are basically the NFI MCU's phase 1. The only shows to directly incorporate them are DD1, DD2, IF1, and Defenders. Therefore IF1 is more essential to Defenders than LC1.

Again, the main villain in Defenders are Madam Gau and Elektra both of which are introduced in DD. The extended story of the hand isn't even referenced in Defenders, which is why it is kind of pointless to watch Iron Fist. Even the people that Danny fought in IF aren't really in Defenders except Madam Gau and even then she is more of a way to tie Danny into the story.

Iron First honestly just felt like a rush job to introduce a 4th person into the Defenders.
