It seemed pretty clear that it was just a freak accident and the cult took advantage of the situation. it wasn't an accident or at least not a freak one. the dead animal on the road wasn't a coincidence nor was charlie sticking her head out the window at that moment(at this point we didn't know she wasn't really a normal kid charlie but daimon in a deformed body and wanted out). if she wasn't decapitated from the brother's swerving maybe she would have flung herself out at the pole instead. in any case the fact is that she wanted to die(just like how the mother decapitates herself at the end) in order to let the soul roam free and catch another body, this time the correct one. edit: oh and apparently charlie has(or hasn't?) an allergy and at the party she eats some cake and convinces(or manipulates?) her brother to rush to the hospital which obv makes him drive fast to begin with. --- ...
