The cult isn't exactly supetnatural themselves but that's what I'm getting at. It's later revealed that they (somehow) were involved with the accident because they needed Charlie to be decapitated. But what was shown to have happened wasn't supernatural or anything. It was just an unpredictable chain of events that convinently played out in the cult's favor at the end.
