He is basically a really bad, powerful guy, wanting to leave his evil past behind and be a good guy, but struggling with his own emotions of anger and frustration. He represents the human nature at its finest, and I totally identify myself with him since I myself left my past behind with God's help. I love his looks (the best design I've seen from Ayami Kojima), voice (props to Crispin Freeman), battle skills, magic powers, and rivalry. The only character above him on my list is Cecil from FFIV. Both have a similar backstory, and I'd love to see more people knowing more about him.
