Why wouldn't you have a backup precisely in case something like this happens? Why wouldn't you have refills? Do you literally wait until the last minute to get a refill? A lot of that sounds like it was preventable, and you just didn't do it. I am on blood pressure medicine, and as soon as my refill counter hits zero, I call up my doctor to get more refills.
