What I've heard is many (not all) people on the left saying it would be a good additional step.


Mental disorders shouldn't be the end all be all as reason to ban somebody from owning guns. Most people with depression will never harm anyone, not even themselves. Mood disorders where somebody can get angry doesn't mean that they'll actually hurt somebody.

A common shared history between a lot of mass shooters is a history of domestic violence, often towards women.
