Socialism might not all technically be Marxism but it is the original philosophy behind it. Socialism might not necessarily be Marxism because of its modern day blend with capitalism but Marxism is the root of modern day socialism. I'll also say I respect Karl Marx in that he was very intelligent and had a very goodhearted, honest idea of what socialism would become. And in some countries a blend of capitalism and socialism does work fairly well
