If a person is going to be put to death either way, they might as well kill anybody who could be a potential witness to their crime and die in a shootout with cops rather than let themselves get taken. Basically you're just encouraging murderers to kill more people. So instead of imprisoning somebody who killed one person, you have people fighting to the death and taking dozens of extra people with them. You don't need incentives against animals, you don't stop an animal killing by issuing warnings or bartering, you cull it as soon as possible. And note I did not say murderers should get death penalty, I referenced animals, monsters, people who commit horrific atrocities. These are people beyond reform and undeterred by police because they are sub-human, the most efficient course of action for society is their end. Let's also add for the fun of it that plenty of murderers keep killing in prison, imprisoning them is guaranteeing they will take extra people with them. Zeus posted... more realistically speaking, impulse control often isn't fully developed until kids are in their TWENTIES so we should be looking up, not down. More realistically speaking you don't need a fully developed impulse control to not kill, much like you don't need a degree for McDonalds. --- Scloud posted...
