It's literally discrimination, by the definition of the word, but most of you won't see it because calling it what it is hurts your feelings. The issue is that "discrimination" has implications beyond the literal definition. Here, the implication is that we're talking specifically about transphobic discrimination, which is a specific subset of discriminating against trans people on the basis of hatred and/or intolerance. Discriminating against a trans person on another basis, however, can be fair game. As an example, doctors have to do that all the time to avoid drug interactions with the hormone replacements. --- This is my signature.
