Of course, it's up to the victim to decide whether this is the best course of action in their specific situation and people outside of it can only offer advice in hindsight. There's a subtle difference in points here though. Consider both responses to the same situation: "I would have supported you if you attacked him/defended him in that situation" "You should have attacked/defended against him, then it wouldn't have happened." The reason people would say offering "advice" in that situation is toxic is because not only does it put the fault at the victim's feet for not handling it in a certain way but it's totally redundant.
