2014, deaths from marijuana usage are statistically higher, but not as bad as alcohol
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/stoned-driving-on-the-rise-not-as-risky-as-drinking-and-driving/

2015, more deaths associated with marijuana than alcohol.

Additional source stating that while it can be detected for a long period so the results may be skewed, it's still doubling (or more than doubling) your chance of getting into an accident.

And then it's just common sense that you're using something that makes you clearly impaired.

Don't drive while you're on any drug that impairs you. People will inevitably live, but there's always that chance you fail to notice something and if you don't die someone else might. Don't be one of those people that only cares about safety until something actually happens to them anecdotally. Especially not when it's not just you that may be in danger. That's why we have these laws.

Whether or not he should've be kicked out for this is a different question, but it's not like numbers don't support that driving under any drug makes it a whole lot worse for everyone.
