A lot of people are unwilling or unable to recognize the ways in which culture has historically been made to cater to people like them. That's viewed as the default, rather than the product of choices. A change in that, though, is felt as being a conscious decision.

Now, I don't mind games that feature gay romance options and I don't mind games that are made specifically for a gay audience. Gaming is a big enough tent to include all that stuff.

But I'm not going to pretend heterosexuality shouldn't be the default. When the creators and the audience are overwhelmingly straight, that's just what is going to happen outside of making conscious decisions to include and appeal to other demographics.

My position is that "heterosexual as the default or norm" is okay, but making those decisions to gear content for homosexuals is okay too. They are a valid audience.
