It only got better with Links and Field Spells becoming more and more op. I daresay it was the best Synchro monster of this format if it didn't get banned. Cuz you just destroy a field spell and search, get eff off of whatever you destroyed, get a field spell search, heal LP, special summon a lvl 4 or lower from hand (which can also do something, like Iblee), link to a Link-2, all from a single Ancient Fairy summon.
