When you get a duplicate of an ssr, you can spend it to open a path in the hidden potential system. There are 4 paths, so to 100% a character you need to have pulled them a total of 5 times. Edit to be clear, you can spend potential orbs to progress along each path, but once you hit a certain point in that path you can progress no further without having unlocked it via a duplicate. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ...
