Not underestimating the pettiness and defensiveness of people still celebrating the Confederacy -- I shared the Memphis article recently where Tennessee took away $250,000 from their funding for removing their two statues -- but I'll want to hear more about this situation you're talking about. EDIT: I dunno if that holiday is Alabama-exclusive or not.
