Kawhi played 9 games and got re-injured. It's definitely his right to be distrustful of doctors.

Also, Kawhi's teammates are all old and falling apart, and this might be their last respectable year in the league. So of course they want Kawhi to play and don't want to accept a lost year. Kawhi is 26 or 27 and has a decade left in the league - if he stays healthy.

One nasty thought is that Kawhi would be playing if the team were better. But it's not his fault that Pop went and signed Rudy Gay for twice the money of Jonathon Simmons, or that he re-upped Pau and LMA instead of looking younger elsewhere.

In any case, I think it's likely Kawhi is not playing for the the Spurs in 2020. Which makes me sad.
