The 90s were a different time. In some ways, a worse time. Not taking sexual misconduct seriously is one of those worse ways.

That we didn't care much about those accusations back then doesn't mean they weren't important: it means we didn't care enough in the 90s. And we were wrong for that.

Eeyup. Plus a little dose of the Internet being much, much bigger now, meaning that such allegations get circulated much more readily.

There's also the fact that Trump ran under the "family values" party, and people enjoy the irony of the "family values" party avidly supporting a serial philanderer who's on his third marriage and openly brag about sexually assaulting women. But, you know, you've gotta protect the sanctity of marriage by not letting them gays marry. That'd just be awful.
