That's not a valid distinction imo.

Hockey players gotta consider ice quality and wear. Every athlete has to consider the likely actions and abilities of their opponents. There are highly technical aspects to the highest levels of any sport.

And again nascar does have intense physical demands.

Not sure why I'm even arguing anything I'm this topic but I feel like those are valid considerations.

I suppose you're right, but hockey players are way more physical when they play. I'd consider that a physical sport and still consider NASCAR more technical
