besides the terrible pacing/characterization/writing/etc issues TLJ had (that are just standard movie problems), my biggest complaint with TLJ was the lack of scope and mythology.

For scope, it didn't feel like Star Wars, more like a disagreement between two groups of people on two ships. There's no scale of the universe, no grand scheme of things, nothing at stake besides people in Ship A winning or people in Ship B winning. For a space opera kind of movie that is a huge negative.

Mythology wise I wish there was more lore for the Jedi order, the Sith, really anything like that. By turning being a Jedi into basically a Disney platitude ("the strength was always in you!" kind of bullshit), it takes out a lot of the mystery, excitement, and connection to older Star Wars movies that being a Jedi had. Tbh in TLJ it feels like being a Jedi just means having the power to move a few rocks without having to physically pick them up.

I wish we had learned more about Snoke, for example. Who the hell is he? How does he have these Sith powers? etc

God I hated TLJ
