Went to the gym today for the first time in probably 6 months as the girlfriend wants motivation to go so I figure I'll go with her. I haven't consistently gone to the gym (i.e. more than a one off here or there) for 7-8 years now though.

Thinking about setting myself a 5k goal to try get myself to keep going. I used to be able to do it in ~18 mins but that was like 10-15 years ago. I think right now I could do it in the 28-30 min range if I can actually get my mind not to quit on me. I did 2.5k in 14 mins today as a warm up and wasn't overly tired, my head just told me to stop.

It's actually frustrating as that was by far my strongest attribute when doing long distance running before. I could keep running through stubbornness no matter how tired I was or how labored my breathing was. Yet now at the first sign of tiredness my head just tells me to stop even though I know full well I can push way, way harder
