It's kind of weird. That checklist card is probably unprintable in black border, but I could see the idea getting proposed in a design meeting or something and getting eventually shot down. But based on Maro's article on this contest, I really got the feeling they weren't looking for people to break the mold like that so much. I'm really a little dubious about the judging process and whether they were playing by their own rules.
