time to wait for the pitbull defense force to come in here and explain how these ultra muscular dogs who are bred for aggression & constitute the majority of dog attacks in the US are actually just big cuddlebugs and it's the owners that are evil and mean

That's exactly right.

I've owned plenty of English Staffies (which are often called "pitbulls"), they've always been extremely friendly and loving. It is entirely on the owner. In terms of public opinion like that, it's ignorance.

It is NOT entirely on the owner. It is nature vs nurture... the dogs are naturally aggressive and powerful, but they can also be raised to be "nicer". They are predisposed to be violent... disagreeing with that is faulty logic.

Simply put, they ARE violent and deadly dogs.

This right here tells me you have never been near properly bred and raised pit bulls, let alone ever owned one. They regularly rank either 1 or 2 in training and temperament testing right up alongside the golden retriever. There are literally millions of these dogs in the US that never do anything like this small handful yet people like yourself and the person saying they should all be euthanized never acknowledge that. Instead, you spout hyperbole saying they are violent and deadly dogs or ticking time bombs like someone else stated, which for the far vast majority of this breed is the farthest thing from the truth.

How in the world can you consider yourself a free thinking human if you cant objectively see how backwards that is?

...They were bred for violence. How can you not understand your dogs' history?

Todays pit bull is a descendant of the original English bull-baiting doga dog that was bred to bite and hold bulls, bears and other large animals around the face and head. When baiting large animals was outlawed in the 1800s, people turned instead to fighting their dogs against each other. These larger, slower bull-baiting dogs were crossed with smaller, quicker terriers to produce a more agile and athletic dog for fighting other dogs.

There, right from the ASPCA.

So youre going to cherry pick and ignore the rest of what I said? Basically you wont discuss youll just stand by your false statement that they are violent and deadly with no basis? Maybe you should link to their pit bull advocacy information that discusses the misinformation about the breed? Damn but that would ruin your narrative.

Also, they arent my breed. If anything Im an all breed person. Ive owned several different breeds of dog in my lifetime, not just pit bulls. I can be open minded on this subject unlike yourself. The worst dog Ive ever owned was a lab. Took a lot of training and patience to fix him.
