But honestly, negative criticism is almost more important and necessary than positive criticism. Because when an awesome game comes out that tons of people love, they're going to blast that s*** across the entire Internet in the desperate hope that they can evangelize everyone to love their particular favorite baby as much as they do (even if that sort of hype tends to die down over time). But having someone call out industry bulls*** (and occasionally pre-emptively warn potential buyers that a game is going to have those sorts of anti-consumer practices in a game and detract from the overall experience) is pretty invaluable, because most people DON'T do it, and most publishers have a vested interest in silencing that sort of dissent.

I've been steered away from buying games I would otherwise have wasted money on (like Shadow of War) by negative Internet reaction, and I'm very happy it happened. Whereas I almost tune people crowing about how awesome [insert current flavor of the month game here] is because people always seem to be far more ready to heap praise on games that barely deserve it than they are to be critical of games that have terminal problems.

i know some people who say that they prefer avoiding all reviews out of their mind and playing the game or watching the movie unbiased. and they usually end up liking it. even dragon ball fucking gt
ill tell you what, it's a stupid fucking mindset and these people who don't like viewing things with a critical eye are the problem.

god bless jim sterling
