Furthermore, Christ whipping the merchants and driving them out shows that the "extreme pacifist" image enemies of Christianity and misguided Christians try to pin on him is clearly false.

Extreme pacifism is nothing but self-destruction because other people will not abide to it, and will trample you.

I interpret "turn the other cheek" simply as "there are other ways to prevail than brute force" and "when you're overwhelmed by strength, fighting back is rarely the best option."
