It was written by Goyer, distributed by New Line Cinema, released in the summer, and made over $100M worldwide. It was absolutely a blockbuster.

It cost $45 million to make. Not a blockbuster. New Line isn't a major studio.


I don't see why it's such a big deal to say it was a blockbuster. It appears on multiple blockbuster lists. It hits all the notes. Just because it didn't have the biggest ROI doesn't mean it's suddenly something else.
