Christian anti-homosexuality predated European colonialism in Africa by centuries. Ethiopia, which was never colonized by Europeans (other than a brief Italian occupation in the 40s), still has the death penalty for homosexuality (as well as the most anti-gay bias incidents in Africa according to surveys). Christianity there dates back to the 4th century.
